The key to happiness they say is to be grateful for the things you have instead of focusing on the things you don’t have. It’s also important to thank people and do nice things for others without the expectation of something in return. Saturday is World Gratitude Day so why not take a minute to think about all the things you are grateful for today but also show gratitude to those around you.
I have a lot to be grateful in my life and I was reminded of that this week. I’m grateful to all my friends who support my accomplishments encourage me to go even farther. I’m grateful to my friends who came to hear me talk on a panel this week. I’m grateful to my sweet friend who sent me flowers on Friday. I’m grateful to everyone who tells me they like my photos. I’m grateful for the publication that reached out to me about working with them. I’m grateful for my tailor who rushes jobs for me so I can wear something to an event. I’m grateful to the man at the newsstand who always has a smile for me and remembers to give me a receipt. I’m grateful for those who let me take refuge in their houses out east this summer. I’m grateful to my neighbor who took in my mail while I was away. I’m grateful to everyone who let me complain about the same thing for five months without slapping me. I’m grateful to the followers on twitter who think I’m funny. I’m grateful for everyone who likes my photos on Instagram and for the friendships that have come from it. I’m grateful for the friends and strangers who see a beautiful car and send me a photo telling me that they immediately thought of me. I’m grateful to my facialist who not only makes me look pretty but makes me feel pretty too. I’m grateful to the checkout girl who complimented my outfit on Monday. I’m grateful for all the amazing people I have met and continue to meet through my blog. I’m grateful to be invited on amazing trips and to chic events where I meet even more amazing people. I’m grateful for being able to find the beauty in everything and inspiration everywhere. I’m grateful and lucky that my parents are still alive. I’m grateful to live in a city that makes me work harder everyday. I’m grateful to live near Central Park where I go when it all gets to be too much. I’m even grateful sometimes to people who are mean to me because they remind me to be kinder to others.
But most importantly, I am always grateful to you for continuing to read Habitually Chic everyday.
What are you grateful for today?
XOXO,
HC
