In Memoriam: L'Wren Scott

The fashion world was saddened this morning to learn of the suicide of designer L'Wren Scott. Everyone agrees that she was as lovely and talented as she was tall.  She started her career as a model and then transitioned to styling before debuting her own designs. Her form hugging fashions were popular among celebrities and stylists, as well as those outside Hollywood. It was the late stylist Annabel Tollman who professed her love of L'Wren's designs to me and suggested they would be perfect for my shape.  It is even more sad that now both of these wonderful women are no longer with us.  L'Wren also happened to be the longtime girlfriend of Mick Jagger but a she once said, "I'm a fashion designer. I don't want to be defined as someone's girlfriend."

I wanted to post about this tragedy because it's important to remember that you don't always know what's going on in someone's life behind the scenes. I know I would look at L'Wren's instagram photos of exotic travel and backstage concert access and think she had the most amazing life.  It wasn't clear why she would take her own life until later in the day when it was suggested that it might have been due to financial issues connected her to business.

If you know anyone who might be going through a hard time or who could use your support for any reason, this might be a good time to reach out to them.  Or if you are having trouble, please know that help is available. If you don't think you can talk to your friends, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline 1-800-273-8255 is always an option.

My deepest sympathy goes out to L'Wren's family and friends at this difficult time.
